A tiny, whimsical Astoria coffee house & scratch bakery behind a purple window sign — where actress-turned-baker Sonnie Brown pours strong, smooth Porto Rico coffee, bakes fresh every day (gluten-free Fridays), and learns your name by your second cup.

They know your name
Meet Sonnie — the actress who bakes your morning
Sonbobs is a one-woman shop. Sonnie Brown — a working actress — bakes everything herself, greets the regulars by name, and if you’re new, she’ll learn yours. “I want people to hang out here and make friends.”
“Come on in — I’ll know your name by the time your coffee’s ready.”
Sonnie’s story
Baked fresh this morning
Daily scratch bakes
Muffins, cupcakes, cookies and cakes — Sonnie bakes them all herself, every day. “It’s about how it tastes, not how it looks.” And every Friday, everything’s gluten-free — that started for a friend with celiac.

Porto Rico coffee — with coffee ice cubes
We pour Porto Rico coffee, strong and smooth — hot, iced, and as lattes. Order it iced and it comes with coffee ice cubes, so it never waters down (the little trick everyone remembers). Organic loose-leaf teas too, hot or iced. Budget-friendly, on purpose.

A whimsical purple curiosity shop
Lavender-lace curtains, purple fairy lights, shiny stars, old jazz — and “Sonnie’s bits and bobs” for sale: postcards, soy candles, china teacups, costume jewelry, much of it handmade by Sonnie. Some nights, there’s an open mic.
